Isc changed. Sound only heard when in gear at low rpms . When in neutral 600 rpms no noise.

Well, the idle needs to be repaired / raised, we know that- The issue IDK.

Once that's repaired (it shouldn't idle at 500 RPMs), your noise will likely go away (as it does when YOU RAISE IT)..

Perhaps putting the engine on a YDS would reveal something improper..

        Throttle position sensor

What about the throttle position sensor ? Could that not be reading the throttles position causing a lower idle? Is there a way to test it?

I noticed that the sensor is slotted does that mean its adjustable?

I am wondering if the prop is chattering or the water pump was not installed corrrectly. Seems to point in this direction if bumping the throttle up 100rpm resolves it. My rpm on gauge shows 600 at idle in neutral. On YDS it shows close to 700rpm. So I thought I had an issue but really did not. When your motor drops to 500, does it recover or stay there?

Anyone know if the shift cut switch activates going in and OUT of gear?

It cuts Out going INTO NEUTRAL, (gets the load off the gears).

And yes, the TPS is adjustable. It's usually set by checking the voltage to it.

                water pump

I replaced both pump at the beginning on season. The noise only started recently. I reused the plastic sleeve and and metal collar.

At some point I want to use the YDS and watch the RPM when shifting. It feels like it revs slightly when going out of gear. I think it actually dips and then ECU recovers by overshooting a bit. The gauge doesn't seem to be sensitive enough to see it completely.

Marchmadness - does your rpm drop to 500 and stay there?

if I pull it out of gear and back in it seems to stay around 6.

If you pull it out of gear and leave in neutral, does the motor stay at 500 rpm on your gauge?

Really need to plug the motor into a computer and get an more exact rpm.

If he's seeing 500 anytime, it's too low.

                        750+/- 50 is the target #.

Pat, if your engine RPMs rise slightly going into neutral, it's likely because of NO more water/prop load on the engine.

Now that you say that, as I pull into the boat lift VERY SLOW, in gear, RPMs are usually at 600. In neutral, 700....

I would still like to watch the rpm on YDS when shifting. In relation to the shift cut switch. At least watch it on my engine anyway.

motor idles at 600 rpms it does not stay at 500 when put back in neutral. Is there a way to raise that idle speed to 700. ? The 500 is too low . I will try and post a video,

I would think you could adjust idle with your motor in a similar manner as the F150. I do not have the exact procedure. Maybe someone else can provide it.

before I start adjusting things i'm trying to figure out whats the next step is, I'm afraid to start adjusting things to only make this worse . I didn't know if I should pull the lower unit and check the collars etc....
