Does anyone know how many turns out this screw needs to be? I currently have both the port and starboard and 1 1/2 turns out and the motor seems to run fine but I don't know if this is a factory setting or not. Is there anything wrong with the way they are set now? The manual I have only goes to 1988 and the settings are different for port and starboard, why is this ?

I was hoping boats.net or another member might answer your post - but since they haven't, I can only recommend to you that you get a Yamaha shop manual for your model outboard. It will pay for itself. Go to www.yamahapubs.com and they will deliver to your door (for a fee, of course).
1 1/2 turns sounds about right on the needles, but I'm not sure.
