testing fuel sending unit

Hi all I pulled the 60 gal. fuel tank out from and older boat ,,drained the old gas ,pulled out the fuel sending unit,,cleaned up the tank and before i put the fuel sending unit back in is there a way to bench test it

You could test with an ohm meter across sender post and ground wire terminal, resistance should change as float moves up and down.
