Gear Lube Check

Hey there,

can i use Pennzoil SAE 80W-90 GL-5 Multi-purpose gear lubricant in the lower unit of my 2001 ox66? i have a bottle of this around and i'm ready to change out the fluid. i thought this was what i used last time around, but my memory is failing me.. is this a safe substitute for Yamaha gear lube?

Only use "marine specific" lower unit oil because it has special corossion inhibitors in it. The bottle needs to say. "Marine Lower Unit Lubricant" on it.
