I have a 2004 Yamaha 150 2 stroke (TXRC) and was wondering if I can add a temperature gauge to this. If so, does a sending unit currently exist on the engine and/or do I need to buy one of these also. The guy behind the parts desk at the local dealer did not look like what he knew was going on in the world when I tried to purchase the part(s) from him. If part(s) numbers can be provided that would be great!

Yes you will need to install a temp sensor(688-83591-00-00) in engine block and connect to temp gauge. Your choice of gauges,
6Y5-83590-00-00 black face, orange numbers
6Y7-83590-00-00 black face, white numbers
6Y7-83590-10-00 white face, black numbers
