Engine Noise Reduction Insulation

The foam insulation inside the engine cover of my 1993 225hp 2cycle has all but disapeared. I am replacing it with 1/4" DunaLiner. Is there a clearance problem with placing insulation on the top part of the cover (over flywheel)? I need to reduce the nose before I go deaf.

Not sure how much clearance there is, I never tried to add foam to cowling but I don't think there is much.
