I am adding a Yamaha FF meter to my boat and have it connected to my Raymarine A65 for purposes of calculating the economy. The FF meter can display in statute miles or kilometers, the A65 can do either statute miles or nautical miles (I prefer the display in knots).
My question is this, is the NEMA 0183 output of the A65 in nm or statute miles depending on what I've selected on the user menu? The follow up is would I need to have the settings on the A65 set to display in statute miles to have the FF meter calculate efficiency properly?
I'm asking this because out thumbnail experience with the boat was a cruising efficiency of 1 - 1.1 nm/gal. and the FF meter is saying we're just shy of 2 nm/gal.
