Hard shifting

I have a 200HP Yamaha outboard and since 5 months ago.Is really hard to put it in reverse, sometimes I have to move the control back and forth this is done with my motor off and it cures the problem.Also my controls are very hard to move.Thank you.

The control cables will cause it to shift hard, disconnect them from both ends and see if they are hard to move back and forth.
