1991 90HP Yamaha. Tilt seal leaking

Happy 4th of July!
Was wondering if someone could explain how to change the top seal(o-ring) on the tilt jack on a 90 Yammy. It needed hydraulic oil after leaving trimmed down for 3 weeks and I can now visibly see the oil leaking form the top seal when operating and the tilt is not working properly and getting worse. Is this something for a novice to try. It looks like the top cap can come off but does the rod come out, and how ? I need some advice before I start tearing it apart. Thanks and God Bless America!

It would require a special tool to remove cap on cylinder, you would have to call boats.net at 877-408-1499 extension 200 to order tools. You would need number 21, 24. 25 and 26 in this diagram Yamaha Outboard Parts 2002 90TLRA POWER TRIM & TILT ASSEMBLY Diagram
