I just acquired this engine in April, which brand service manual do you recommend? Where is the best place to purchase? Is CD as good as hard copy?

You can buy it direct from Yamaha. Go to their website and navagate to it, It has been a while since I did it, but you should be able to find it, and purchase it from them. You cannot go wrong getting it from the source.

I was disappointed with the Yamaha 50TLR manual.
I also purchased a Clymer manual. It has more descriptions, pictures and info and was also less expensive.
