yamaha 85/90 hp trailing lock

Hi
I have a 1983 85hp yammie outboard which is pretty much the same as a 1984 90hp. Can anyone tell/show me how the lock works to keep engine tilted when trailering. Mine seems to have a home made device( a bar with an angled foot on one end) but this keeps bending and is beginning to dig into the surronding metalwork when the engine jumps when going over bumps

Yamaha now has a trailering support that fits over the port side power trim ram that works well, it's part number MAR-SPTPT-YM-08.
