I have a 95 / 70HP Yamaha and will be installing some new electronics. I have the engine service manual, but cannot find the alternator output to understand whether it will sufficiently keep up with the electronics draw and battery recharge. I realize with one battery I need to monitor if at anchor. I carry a 2nd battery (not connected), but am considering wiring the 2nd battery. So, double concerned that it can keep up with two batteries.
In use (12 volt system):
Strong DieHard Type 24 Deep Cycle - ~550 CCA
6 switch 12vdc fused distribution panel
Pos/Neg bus bar
Nav light - 8 watt bulb (0.66amp draw @ 12vdc)
Anchor light - 8 watt bulb (0.66 amp draw @ 12 vdc)
Bilge - ~1.5amp draw
Aerator - ~1.5 amp draw
Instruments bulbs - fuel, voltage and yamaha engine gauges (each has light bulb to tie into cabin light switch
All loads connected to distribution panel
To add to above:
Cabin lights - 2 small Perko LED lights for floor light (12 vdc - amps ???)
Raymarine C90W - max current 4 amps (32 watts)
- intend to connect directly to bus bar pos/neg
Raymarine DSM30 - 0.5 am average (8amp peak - really only if can't find bottom)
- intend to connect to distribution panel (switched) / neg to bus bar
Any thoughts?
