Service manual for 225 four stroke requires use of Loctite 572 on water pump bolts and lower unit bolts. I can't find Loctite 572 anywhere. Loctite doesn't even list it on their web site. What should be used on the water pump and lower unit bolts?

Rob,
Yea, my Yamaha manual specifies Loctite 572 also for my 2000 C115 water pump bolts. I got in touch with the Loctite rep out of Baton Rouge and he recommended Loctite 567 over 572. 567 has teflon in it and is supposed to prevent "galling" on stainless steel. Sounded good to me, until I tried to find it locally. I did find it at Graingers, but it was wholesale only (had to be a business with tax number, yada, yada, yada)and then in large quantities only. So I went looking for a substitute and found one made by Permatex - number 14A - has Teflon in it and low stength. It is a thread sealer, which is what you want. Good for use in salt water. And besides, it smells great too! Comes in a tube for about $4.
Good luck,
