Add A Battery Installation Help

i am hooking up the add-a battery kit to a yamaha 150hp
the scamatic that came with the kit shows that i should connect a wire from the crank position of the key switch to the ACR.This wire will disconnect the 2 battery during the starting. Is this even nessary. please help i dont want to run wire if they are not needed. using the manual i have it looks like i have to connect to the brown wire from the key switch.do i have to run the wire all the way back to the iginition switch or can i make the connection nere the outboard .

The brown wire is the correct wire, it connects to starter relay and may be easier to make connection at relay.

Were Is The Relay Under Motor Cowl?

You didn't say which model 150 you have, but it's close to the starter just follow wire from starter it connects to relay.
