Looking to Purchase 2001 200HP HPDI VMAX

I'm investigating a 2001 Skeeter bass boat with a 200HP HPDI VMAX motor. I know that early HPDI Yamaha's had some reliability problems, but I don't know the time frame that they were resolved.

Any suggestions on what to look for on this motor besides compression, lower unit oil condition, etc.? If I obtain the serial # on this motor, can I verify whether or not any applicable updates have been applied to this particular motor?

If the updates are done it should be ok. Get me the serial number and I can check it for you.

I'd also have a mechanic download the info from the ECM (motor computers)
