1987 70 ETLH TIlt/Trim Reservoir

I am looking for a replacement trim/tilt reservoir for my 1987 70 ETLH outboard. Don't ask how, but the reservoir bolt was overtightened and is now stuck (stripped threads?) in the reservoir cover.

I can not find the trim/tilt reservoir from any yamaha part distributor. I do not want to replace the entire trim/tilt assemby to fix the reservoir only.

Maybe it is possible to remove the reservoir cover and somehow remove the bolt and repair the internal threads on the reservoir piece?

Does your bolt spin when you try to back it out...but doesn't catch (stripped)? If so, you should have a small gap between the bolt head and the reservior body. Slide a thin blade screwdriver into this gap and apply slight pressure toward the reserviour, so that your applying outward pressure (pushing the bolt out). While applying this pressure, use needle-nose pliers to slowly turn the bolt out...with luck your stripped bolt will catch enough to get into the reservior threads and start to back out.
Don't ask me how I know this...but I encountered this problem earlier this week...and it worked for me. After getting the bolt out, my reserviour threads were still good, but the bolt threads were shot. Get a new bolt/o-ring for $8 and your back in business. If your reservior threads are stripped, your going to have to get a new bolt & reservior anyway. Hope this helped.
