no water

my 75hp yamaha outboard only has a trickle of water coming out the top port when I cranked it. It's been months since I ran it and was wondering if this is normal. Does it need to warm up for a while first or could my thermostat need replacing. Do I even need a thermostat here in central fla. Thanks for any help on this.

sounds like you need to replace the impeller in the lower unit...has it been changed recently? It is a fairly easy replacement to perform.
