Hello, I'm new to the forum, hope ya'll can put some insight to this problem. I have a 96 yamaha 150 saltwater series with fairly low hours. the boat is garage kept. new water pump, thermostats, etc about 18 mos ago and probably ran the boat for about 10 hours since. (I don't fish as much as I used to) well, this am I pulled the boat out, hooked up the water, etc to run the engine for a little while since it hasn't been started for about 3-4 mos. Immediately when I started the engine the alarm sounded (continous shrill), turned engine off, then turned key to on position and still got an alarm with engine not running. disconnected alarm plug-ins at the alarm to check for corrosion, found none. re-started, put engine in gear, same results-alarm! I'm at a loss, can the alarm itself be bad, with the alarm un-plugged, should I be getting any resistance between the 2 wires? Sorry for such a long thread, but any input will be greatly appreciated. thank you, hlt

Remove cowling and oil level on engine oil tank, if at or below bottom line it will activate alarm. If oil level low turn key on and watch oil level to see if it fills up.

I forgot to mention the engine has to be running in order for oil to transfer to engine oil tank and make sure boat tank has oil in it(middle bar in oil lights in tach indicate low oil in boat tank). If oil doesn't transfer try using the gray toggle switch on back of engine with key on.
