  • Need a mechanic to press apart my crankshaft!

    Hello
I am looking looking for a mechanic or machinist that can disassemble a crankshaft assembley on my yamaha 1995 25 hp yamaha outboard.. the motor has only about 10 hours on it started make a rattleing noise. I took the powerhead apart and low and behold there was a large seal that looks like a bearing that had been moving because the rollpin that holds it in place came loose ,got bent and was wearing out the inner part of the seal by rotating around. It looks like the only thing that got damaged was the seal itself which is made up of aluminum. there were aluminum shaving all over the block. everything else looks ok including the 3 main bearings. if anyone can point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it. the dealer wants to sell me a new powerhead for $1800 bucks..0uch!!!

You would have to check with Machine shops in your area that can do press cranks.

      Hello,
I have a friend in Northern Wisconsin who has over 30 years of crank experience with boats and snowmobiles. If there is a way you can send it to him I am completely confident that he can do the work. If you are interested, please email or PM me.
