  • compression check

I checked the compression on my 1992 225. Every cylinder is 110. What I understand is that anything over 100 is good. So, there is no need to think about rebuild, right?
Also checked my coils with a spark plug gap checker and everything looked good. My mid range acceleration problem is pointing more and more to the carbs. I'll find out next week when I pull the boat out of the water and take them apart.

most likely carbs yes, see if choking helps at that rpm.

No choke-has one of those solenoid con*****ed primers. I know it's working for cold starts, not sure how it works after that. I found a lot of sludge in my fuel filter today. I can only imagine what's in my carb bowls.
Gas tank isn't that old, so from what I understand from Star-tron, this is their product getting rid of the water. It's like a gray, sandy type of material.
Just switched over to a 10 micron filter and pull the carbs off when I pull the boat for the season
I would appreciate any other ideas.

choke each carb throat/with intake cover off, with your finger, listen for a rpm increase, that will also locate the suspect clogged carb.
