On top of head, number 42 in diagram http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Ya...DER/parts.html.
If it's overheating then probably need to replace water pump.

Sorry but I think I ordered the wrong part. My thermostat is different than the one I ordered it has 2 bolts holding it on instead of one. The people I bought it from said it was 85hp but the cover was painted black so it don't say what hp it is but I went to lake it is on houseboat. I found owners manual for 70ETLK serial #is 464590-L-6H3 or 6113 on it. I tried to take out bolts & both twisted off & broke in two. Could you help me to find out what it is? 70hp I asume . Could you give me link to 70ETLK with schematic as you did with other as I need some parts for my tilt & trim also? Then I can compare it with mine. Your help is greatly apperiated. Thank You also would like a manual for it if I can figure out what I have. Thanks again srb♣

                  1985ETLK Discharges cold water

My engine is pissin cold water I took out thermostat both bolts twisted off on me. Ordered new thermostat brought the old one home it is opening at 130degrees so I guess this is not my problem. Now cannot get old bolts out guess I will have to drill & tap. Does anyone know if it is suppost to piss cold water? If not what could be my problem I took plug out at top of engine and shoots out water hose size stream of hot water But coming out pisser is cold. Does anyone know what could be wrong with it my water pump is working ok. could it be in the exhaust manifold? or any other ideas what could be wrong it will run at low speed but not at high speed about 2000 rpm is max to run smooth is still pissin cold water. any help appreciated thank you. srb

The water coming out of tell-tale will be like lake water temp, it will not be hot.

                      1995 70etlk

Thank you for reply so it is suppost to be lake temperature. Do you have any idea what would make it run fine for short period of time and then engine starts to miss out and lose power down to 2000 rpms I am stumped. Has new splitfire plugs in it. does not want to idle now never had this trouble before. Thanks again srb

Do a compression test. If you hear the buzzer it may be overheating, if no buzzer then test buzzer by removing pink wire at temp sensor on head and touch wire to block with ignition key on, buzzer should sound. Could be a fuel problem like dirty carbs.

                          1985 Etlk

thank you for reply will try what you have suggested. Waiting on new thermostat and new bolts to see how deep to drill out the holes to secure the thermostat due to the twisting off of both bolts in the block or head so I do not go to far in and cause futher damage. thanks will let you know after I test alarm and compression. srb

I finally got my order today & they did not send me the bolts to go with it as I ordered. I need these to see how long they are I was charged for them but did not get is for a 70ETLK they twisted off when I tried to take apart so I been waiting to get so I can drill out don't want to go too deep & hurt anything. Will call customer service. Can you tell me the length of them? It is part #97313-06025-00 & 97013-0635-00 ON crankcase view it is * 31 & 38 bolts that I need to go with thermostat I ordered.70 ETLK
