saftey lanyard/alarm-motor wont start

motor would not start today 200yam ox66 2001. cranked real good. played with the saftey key and it started and no alarm. later in the day same thing.turn the key she cranked and an alarm sounded from the saftey key buttom. jiggled it ,the alarm stopped and she started up and ran fine.
is there a serious problem?does that unit need replacing?

if the clip is worn it will not pull out switch all the way OR switch could be going bad.

Not until it stops working altogether:-). I'd replace the switch and the lanyard - not worth fooling with.

if you dont USE the switch/lanyard....you CAN bypass it.....
