99 250SW My tilt/trim motor is making noises, almost sounds like it is running out of fluid. Check the reservior and it is full. Is there anything else I can check before replacing the trim motor?

John,
The tilt/trim motor can make a popping noise when there is air in the system. My 2000 C115 did the same thing, even when it was brand new. I bought a shop manual (Yamaha is very proud of their shop manuals) and the procedure was in there. My level indicator showed full also, but it will even when there is air in the system.
Also, on my C115, I have to keep a thin film of grease (Mobil 1 synthetic) on the hydraulic rams; if I don't, they will also generate popping noises when activated.
Try these two things before you go replacing the motor.
Good luck,
Ken K.

Mr Ken, is right
Apply marine grease on hydraulic rams/ram, tactically
