  • Water in lower unit oil

My motor is a 1999 Yamaha f100 hp 4 stroke, it has 450 hours on it and after installing a water pump kit and uppper and lower shaft seals, I have drained the lower unit oil 3 times and the oil is milky after just a few hours of use. I have the Yamaha manual and followed it exactly, I removed the pump and put in again, still got milky oil. I drained the oil and with the lower unit removed from motor, put a pressure tester on it at 14 psi for 24 hours and it held steady, while rotating both shafts by hand, I even sprayed snoop leak detector on it with no bubbles. Any ideas ?? What next?

Yes, I checked them and replaced them anyways.

That's funny you ask that, I have dropped the bottom one in the drain pan and had to fish it out, I love the smell of gear oil.

      thanks,

Once the oil becomes milky it takes several oil changes to get clean again, if you see water coming when draining then you still have a seal leaking.

OK, that makes sense, I'll give it try.
