2004 115hp 4 Stroke

When I am cruising my engine is running normal then the rpms increase for a second or two then goes back to normal, then a minute or two does it again. It seems to happen after I have been running the engine for a few minutes.
What is causing this?

Ah ha...makes sense because in order for the motor to get up to 5500-5800 rpms I need to trim up...thanks for your time.
Might need a new prop.
