  • 92' 70 Yamaha-start only with red emergency switch on

I am trying to figure out problem with 1992 -70 elec yam. cleaned carbs- won't take fuel or start unless red lever emerg circuit is on. with that on it runs great. questions ? What about the thermo-valve on middle carb?

Make sure red lever is in the Normal position for automatic choke. You can test the thermal valve to see if operating.

      70 Redlever ?

With the red lever in the normal position it does not appear to be getting any fuel and will not start. Once it is put in the emergency position it starts up and runs great. Idle, midrange and wide open are fine? Owner of the boat says it has always been hard to start?

Ok then you probably need to test the thermal valve and check the diaphram.

          70 redlever fix

Thanks for the answer back. I will check the switch with a meter. Running it like this with the lever flipped, will it cause any damages if ran like that for an extended period of time?

If you have keep lever flipped to stay running then thats probably dirty carbs not a choke problem.
