I have a 1995, Yamha 2-stroke 40HP Autolube engine. It's a 40V (6H4) model, long shaft, 3 cylinder, manual start and trim.
Do you know if I can connect a Teleflex tacho guage to this engine?
The instructions include details as below (based on 6-pole polarity). There is no wiring in the control box. It's a manual teleflex control unit.
Connect the Tachometer terminal to the following wires:
Locate Green and Black wires on underside Shift Control Box.
Connect the tachometer's SEND terminal to green wire.
Connect the tachometer's GND terminal to the Black wire.
If the Green wire is not accessible at the Control box:
Connect the tachometers SEND terminal to green wire on powerhead
electrical strip.
Connect the tachometer's GND terminal to any common ground.
I'm assuming I can connect to green wire under flywheel to the tacho and run a ground terminal to an earth on the outboard itself?
