  • Rigging F40TLR Tach, Trim Gauge and Steering

Hello - I am a noob in the throws of trying to rig a 2006 Tracker Grizzly 1754 with a 2006 F40TLR (the boat was powered with a merc tiller until now). I assume there is a wiring harness that can be used to run a Yamaha tach (6Y7-83670-90-00) and trim gauge (6Y7-83670-30-00) directly from a Yamaha 703 control (i.e., not from the motor)? Anyone know if this is reasonable and/or have a part number? 2-3 feet of wiring is plenty. I am also uncertain as to the best way to deal with the steering control at the engine. I have a teleflex NFB safeT II in hand, but don't know the best approach to connect it to the motor. THANKS.

I opted to go with OEM wiring harnesess:

    703 to tach gauge = 6Y5-83553-N0-00
Motor to trim gauge = 6Y5-83653-20-00

(You can't run the trim gauge off the 703)

$25 and $35, respectively. Plug and play makes life easy.

Can anyone help with the steering cable connection to the motor? That is my last hurtle.

Well, I need a prop too. Going to start with a 13 pitch, 1400 lbs loaded, 6,000-7,000 elevation. What do you think?

    Thanks.
