TRIM PROBLEM

I have a yamaha 40VETOL (1998). The problem is that trim just stop working. The motor stoped at the angle so I can`t use it. When I push the trim button the motor doesn`t move in any direction,but just make a sound (like "click"-i think that sound is of the switch). Is there any possibility to put the motor in the "down" position without using trim? What can be wrong with trim. In the past the trim works really slow.Please help me.

There should be a manual release screw on side of transom bracket to allow you to trim motor by hand. It sounds loke it needs a new trim motor.
