Differance in 2 and 3 ring pistons

Hi

Just checking here before I install or use these new pistons.

The ones that came out have three ring grooves, and my new ones have two ring grooves. 50 HP 1990 2 stroke.

Is this just an updated parts or have I made a big mistake and ordered the wrong ones?

The original piston's were 3 ring, they changed to 2 ring to help prevent ring stickage. The 2 ring piston is all you can get, you can get the 3 ring set to replace rings but not piston.
