When I ran out of gas and changed tanks I found my 50 HP 4 stroke hard starting. It took several minutes of cranking to get it to start. Is this normal because it has fuel injection? What's the secret to a fast start from dry? Thanks for any advise.

My guess is that you had some crud in the second tank you switched to. I have come to the conclusion
that it doesn't take much to clog up the fine jets of these 4 stroke engines. I'm putting in a 10 micron filter, as per Yamaha's suggestion. They also recommend a fuel cleaner and stabilizer to add
to the fuel.

Thanks for your response. I was wondering if this is a common problem. I use a fuel treatment. Not sure if my filter is 10 micron so I'll check that out. Ciao.
