  • need fuel management system for tripples

I didn't get the fuel management system when i got my boat. The fuel sender has now failed. I only have one tank and need to know exactly how much fuel i have. I guess fuel flow is a good thing to know too. Any ideas on the cost of the yamaha fuel management systems? Also, if not then what should i get. I notice the navman say things like "one engine/ two engine" application. Any ideas for tripples?
Thanks for the help. good to have this forum.

You'll have to install a sender in the main feed line from the tank and just measure total fuel flow that way, instead of at each individual engine's Racor filter outlet. I'm not sure how your fuel tanks are setup if it can even be done too easily. The Yamaha FMS single kit is about $500, or you can get the cheap NavMan single kit for about $150.

Yes but to feed three motors you'll have to go to something like the Racor RAC-3120R-RAC-32 that flows 120gph and mount the fuel flow sender off the outlet of that. I'm not positive on the max flow rate for the sender. The reduction in line size may end up being a problem. I'm afraid the sender may be a choke point in the line if you do it like that. How big is the inner diameter of the fuel hose you're using from the tank? The Yamaha flow sender is 3/8" ID. So if you're using a 3/8" ID line now and don't have any fuel starvation problems you should be able to use a single sender. I assume your tank line runs to a manifold to divide into three outlets to each engine? What kind of boat is it? Maybe drop an email to the boat builder and see if they've done a fuel flow gauge installation on one and how they did it.
