I recently changed the regulator on a friend's F-80 that "fried". It was shorted to the block, and the wiring was burned. This engine is a 2000 w/ 1800 hrs. Now, my engine, F-100, 2001 w/ 200 hrs, just did the same thing. It stopped running (fuse) because of the shorted regulator. Is this common? Is it the wiring chaffing against the block? Is this common? Thanks

Have your dealer check the serial number to see if there are any updates out for that engine. Some of the earlier F80 and F100 had a regulator change. You can send me the serial number by way of a private message and I can check it for you.
