• mixture out of exhaust

I have a 99 175hp yamaha that I just aquired. Mounted it and fired it up, but after turning it off, I had about 3 to 4 oz of gas oil mixture drip out of the exhaust. Can it be that it is running to rich into the carbs. After its lake test for about 45 minutes, it did it again. Any ideas?

baymaster,
Could be stuck float valve(s) in the carbs or split diaphram(s) in the fuel pumps.
Some owners replace fuel pumps every five years for preventive maintenance - the diaphrams can split and dump fuel directly into the crankcase.
For the possible stuck float valve, I would do a shock treatment with SeaFoam or RingFree to clean up the fuel system (and de-carbonize motor).
Good luck ,

how did it run ??? if it is the pumps you MAY not notice unless you ran it up at higher rpms under load.
