2 stroke tach

I have 2 stroke 150,1994 Salt Water series and I want to replace the tach I buy one but the new one come with the set nad mode keys and the old one dosen't have it. Can I use the new one? The instruction explain the set up for 2 amd 4 stroke. An help I will apreciate.
