Max RPM? on 99 200 HP

I was wondering what the max RPM you should expect to see on my 99 200 HP Saltwater series. The motor is carbureted. I just purchased the engine last year and I remember seeing 5400 RPM on my tach. I can only get it up to about 5100 RPM with the throttle all the way.

The operating range is 4500-5500 RPM's, so you are within the range.

My expeirence with this was as simply as ajusting my tilt and trim. Find the sweet spot after hitting full throttle but if it doesn't hit your rpms check the throttle linkage on the motor, you may not be opening it all the way on the motor cuz your hand throttle has a stopping point. Good luck
