  • Using boat in the winter time

New to forum did a search didn't find anything. I will be using my boat in the winter and don't want to damage anything after taking boat out of the water with freezing temperatures. I have a 1997 115 & 6hp kicker. What should I do after take it out of the water. I lower both motors let water drain and on the 115 take the flush connector apart and blow threw it and hook it back up. Anything else?

    Thanks reddog

The beauty of having outboards. Tilt them all the way down and they drain completely. No damage from freezing. Be glad you don't have an inboard or F350! Hope you have a pilot house on the boat.

When you put it back in the water, just let the engine sit for a couple of minutes (trimmed down of course) so if there any ice in around the impeller from the last use (not likely) it will melt away before starting. That's my procedure anyway.
