Yamaha Tach Settings

Does anyone know how to set the three small switches on the back of the Yamaha Multifunction Outboard Tachometer for a 2001 4-stroke 40hp. The unit I purchased did not have any information in the box...

Set switch 1 in in up position (trim sensor, 2 lead)
switch 2 in down position (tach sender, 12 pole)
switch 3 in up position (4 stroke eng.)
