2000 9.9 - 4 stroke stalling

I think I have a week or bad coil. It has been a little more difficult to start in the past few months and after *****ing at lidle speed for about an hour it stalls and will not start. After a few minutes, it will start and run for about 10 minutes then stalls out.
Cleaned carb and plugs. Plugs had black carbon very dry sooty buildup.

Can I measure coil restance?

It sounds as though engine is running a rich mixture, a good carb clean, and checking the fuel primer AKA starter set AKA electrothermal valve (NB this is not a solenoid) as well as a compression check would be worthwhile.....
