Twin F150s.
When trailering I like to have both my engines stay straight.
Now before we get all the "it doesn't matter if they flop over" and "it doesn't hurt the engines" and "why do you let it bother you" replies ... I know all that OK.
I (for whatever reason you want to call it) just like for them to remain stationary (in the straight position) when trailering.
Of course I know that tying the wheel will work...but only for short distances. This has HYDRAULIC steering (not cable) so after a while the hydraulics (no matter where the wheel is tied) will let the engines flop. I tow this rig about 300 miles one way when I use it (usually) and was wondering about a couple of things to try. (oh I also, along with tying the wheel, tried tethering off the lower units to the transom...didn't work...they flopped)
I also tried cutting some rubber heater hose and putting it around the steering hydraulic cylinder arms....nope...they pushed off the hose and flopped. I thought about cutting some Pex tubing and slicing out enough to snap over (see pic) and I have seen a commercial version of these but I wonder how it would be on the end caps of the hydraulic cylinder? Have any of you done this and did it eat up the end caps? Then I thought of making a rod that would connect to the steering yoke of the port engine and using a ss U bolt fasten the other end to the swim platform handle. I thought I would use a tine pin at the engine end.
