French Yamaha outboard ID help

Hello,
I have a French assembled 8HP Can anyone help me read the ID tag so I know what year it is so i can buy the correct parts. I believe it's between a 99-03

What they should have told you is that they don't want to help. It is not that the can't help. Because they can. If they wanted to.

Using the logic upon which they told you they cannot help, I would not be surprised if they are telling customers they can't help because a motor is made in Japan.

Most, if not all, of the smaller HP models are made in France. For Yamaha.

Your model motor is the equivalent of a 2000 8MLHY. Parts for it can be found here:

Yes, dealers would not be expected to have this information.

But Yamaha USA would. And do. I presume that is who he talked to.

Would not surprise me if a guy on the phone did not know anything about a Yamaha carburetor. Well, maybe he might have heard his grandpa speak of one back when he sat on pappys knee.
