I have a 2004 F150 TXRC with 570 hours. Ther service charts say to to change the belt at 1000 hours but no mention of calendar time. I have inspected the belt for wear and cracks and it looks fine. Any thoughts?

I thought I read in a manual for a F60 that it was 1000 hours or ten years..whatever comes first.
How many thousands of dollars did you pay for the engine? Quite a few I would think. How much is a timing belt?
I don't know if this engine is clearance engine or not. If it is and the belt breaks, well no harm done, just broke down.
If it is not a clearance engine and the belt breaks or skips a few teeth...pistons and valves destroyed and god only knows what else. Many thousands to fix it.
FWIW the chart in the "sticky" on this forum has this:
The F150 is "interference"
don't know about models introduced later, but as of 2007 ,
the only non-interference 4-stroke over 50 hp was the F200/225
I replaced the timing belt on my F225 at 1400 hours when it was 10 years old -
had to remove it anyway to replace a failing camshaft gear.
But when I examined it side-by-side with the new one -
they were absolutely indistinguishable from each other
thought about selling the old one on eBay..
I suppose theoretically the fibers must eventually "fatigue",
and once one fails, a spontaneous "cascade" as the shared load increases on the remainder
certainly on an interference motor, changing it proactively is prudent.
But seems tough to pick an interval on a "rational" basis
I don't know.
Fairdeal how much was the timing belt when you replaced it?
cost?
funny, just happened across the receipt yesterday
for some reason, bought it from Andy - August 2014 - $96.40
was sitting on it for a year until the cam gear broke
