Different driveshaft size t8 lower unit

With the help of Boatland in Campbell River, BC, we have solved the mystery, partially. They are who I bought this lower unit from. They had bought out inventory from a yamaha dealer that went out of business. The unit came to them with the incorrect part number on it. They assumed it was correct and put it up for sale on Ebay. I am returning it to them for a full refund. Very gracious, since I bought this from them in November of last year. However, we still don't know what it is.
Anyway, thanks for all of your help. I guess I'm in the market for a new lower unit. If any of you have any ideas on where to get a good deal, please let me know.
