  • Diagnostic test for oil pressure sensor

    F150 TXRD

Is there an electrical test for this sensor? I have scanned the SM and don't see it.

Oil pressure readings were all over the scale last week when running on water with YDS.

Disconnect the connector to the sender. Measure the input voltage to the sender with the key on. Should be 4.75 ~ 5.25 volts DC. Orange wire terminal to black wire terminal.

Remove the oil pressure sender. Install test harness YB-06869 between the sender and the engine harness connector. Connect volt meter to the pink/white wire connector and to the black wire connector.

Apply pressure to the sender. Check for the following output voltages:

2.5 volts DC at 56.8 psi.
4.5 volts DC at 113.7 psi.

if you see low voltage on the orange wire look at other sensors as well, especially water pressure or speed sensor.

As critical as the 5.0 reference voltage is, one would think that it would be monitored by the ECU, with a code being set if it is not within specification. Alas, with a Yamaha it is not.

Why not? Only Yam knows and Yam ain't talking.

So this test harness is used for testing oil pressure and air temp sensors?

Yes on the oil pressure sensor and no on the air temperature sensor.

Google search brought up that number as diagnostic harness for air intake
              sensor.

                Google lies.

But the adapter harness is used for the intake air pressure sensor.

You asked about the intake air temperature sensor.

                For an F150TXRD.

Here are some sensors from an F150TXRD. Note any differences?

Yes. I mistakenly referred to air temp versus pressure.

Pondering a drano treatment for the oil sensor. Hell with the orange wire.

you can also use part # MAR-PAPER-CL-IP.
                      works well.
I have most the adapters and still use the above part number for testing.
