  • Command Link query for Boscoe

I'm puzzled that I have never seen this question asked or answered

    about the DEC engines:

assuming the boat is rigged using the CL+ "network" (with the rectangular or round gauges)

and the owner wants to get N2K data to his non-Yamaha MFD:

why not use the old reliable "Lowrance cable" be to connect that "plain Command Link" plug to a drop on the non-Yamaha N2K network?

it seems as if it is essentially an "extension" of the CL plug that is under the cowling on a mechanical control engine?

am I missing something about the feasibility?

or have I simply missed reading about people doing it?

Only the rectangular colour multi-function Yamaha device is Command Link Plus compatible. Maybe the pending MFD made by Garmin will be so as well. TBD.

It completely normal and usual for folks that have a Command Link Plus display in use to also use the Command Link (no Plus) network also. Either to drive a non-Yamaha MFD or to drive Yamaha Command Link (no Plus) gauges, typically at a second station. Say up top on a tuna tower.

Yamaha also makes an analog gauge converter so that if either analog needle and dial gauges or analog but digital display conventional multifunction gauges can be driven from either the CL or the CL+ network. Either to perhaps save some money, or for folks like Boscoe who think there can be no such thing as too many gauges.

Flying IFR when there is nothing to be seen outside the window can be made more pleasurable by perusing many many gauges.
