On my 90 2 stroke that came with the standard prop the manual says 4500 to 5500 is normal top end. On my 17 ft center console I can get 5200 rpm with one person in the boat and the bimini down. Put the bimini up and add another person and it drops 200 rpm. Ad more people and sometimes I only see 4800 rpm at wot.
You can find your manual as a pdf file at http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard...d_manuals.aspx

wboyle,
Wally is right - you are at mid-range for max rpm, I wouldn't mess with it.
Same range is noted in my owner's manual for my C115 - 4500 to 5500, and at WOT and trimmed out, I get 5100 with just me on board, and 5000 with two persons.
Good luck ,
