Ground Wire? --Yahama VMAX 225 HDPI

Hello-

I found this site looking for some answers for my motor. Boy I wished i found this last year when I blew my 6 cylinder....

I have a 225 VMAX HDPI that recently had a new head and because of some rocks on Mille Lacs nows has a new lower unit.

Last weekend we ended up tearing/pulling the black wire that comes from teh top of the motor into the lower unit block. I am not seeing a way to reconnect this wire and wondering what this wire does and is there an easy way to reconenct it?

it is a bonding wire.
Yamaha sells them.

Thanks--Is this a simple fix of unscrewing the remaining wire and reattaching? I am not seeing an easy way to access the wire/attachment in the lower unit, is there an easy way to get to this?
