Per the parts fisch, it appears to just slide over the throttle tube.

In you shop manual, does it mention any adhesive?

**(it's NOT un-common for the grips on motorcycle handlebar to be glued on with a special adhesive that sets up overnight-and works REALLY WELL)

The directions I have do seem to indicate that the handle just slips on but no mention of adhesive. Thanks for the suggestion.

That adhesive is generally yellow, smells VERY STRONG, AND is stringy, somewhat messy.

It does work very, very well. One little tube is plenty..
