  • Cylinders 1 and 4 not firing

    2001 Z200 HPDI motor

Cylinders 1 and 4 are not firing.

They fire when cranking the motor, then they shut off once the motor is running.

I switched the coils to another cylinder and the coils fire fine.

Seems I am missing the signal from the ECU.

    Thoughts?

    thanks all!

    Just some more info.

Went out and checked the power at the coil, I have 12 volts at the coil, same as all the others.

It will fire when cranking, then once running, the coils shut down.

All other coils are running except for 1 and 4 (Assuming I am numbering them correctly, with 1,3,5 port and 2,4,6 strbd top to bottom).

I disconnected and jumped the neutral switch, no change. I know that it is supposed to shut down different cylinders when the neutral switch is engaged, but I do not see that with the spark testers on.

I can't help but feel like this is something with the ECU... which I really hope is not true.

Our family vacation is coming up next week and I am running out of time to fix this!

    ANY insight is appreciated.

      wrong numbers.
port is 2.4,6 stbd is 1,3,5.
      retest and post again.
but if the shift position switch signal is corrupeted it wont allow the two cyl to fire and may shut off two more.

Found that the wire was bad from the ECU connector to the neutral switch.

Replaced the wire and all 6 cylinders are firing now!

        Thanks all!
