Well my friend along with a another friend and I launched his boat yesterday for a shakedown cruise out on the SF bay. Motor ran fine but had fuel issues.
Pumped the bulb full, ran great then sputtered and died. Pumped the bulb again and she fired right up. Afterwards when the engine started to die, we'd pumped the bulb and the engine stayed running.

Decided to call it a day.
On shore, we checked the fuel filter which was clean so it's got to be the fuel pump.

my guess is the pressure control valve between the VST and the lift pump intake.
remember the lift pump cycles on and off below 1200 RPM.
anyair leaks and it may run fine above 1200 yet the VST runs out of fuel below 1200 eventually.

We had the same issues on my neighbors 200.

Turned out the seal on the transom mounted fuel filter broke and was sucking air.

I had to keep priming the bulb to get us home...(till he found the failed seal)
